2017 comes with new challenges but first I wanted to write about a great experienced I had the last months of 2016. I had the great honor to be invited to Colombia for Siggraph LatinAmerica. I really wanted to share back home some of the experiences I have been through these past years in Europe working with games like The Witcher and Battlefield. The talk went great I had an intense but grateful experience talking to so many people.
Then after couple of weeks back in Europe I got the pleasure to be invited to Sevilla, Spain for Animalada Festival of animation. I got to see a new beautiful city and meet incredible artists. I was amazed by some projects developed there, is a little town full of artistic power.
Why I wanted to talk about this?
Well I found out something that is forgotten when you are in the industry and spend all the time in front of the computer and waiting for a playblast. I found so much passion and good vibes from students, colleagues and professionals from diverse areas. I found so much desire to learn and so much openness towards their own life projects.
These talks made me realize how important is to share our experiences in life, how is not just our individual journey but how many of us walk through similar experiences. The experience to deal as foreigner with visas and difficult country regulations, the experience to be quick and have crazy good adaptability to deal with different cultures where English or Spanish is not the main language. Political and Cultural developments that we have to be aware and how that can change your comfort zone and open a bigger perspective of what you do.
We are not aware of this changes and we forget there are many others starting the journey.
